Buying and selling safely
Most people on NaiCar are honest. These habits protect you from the few who are not.
Before you go
Ask for the registration book and the chassis number, and check that the number on the papers matches the one stamped on the vehicle.
Search the price. An ad priced far below every comparable one is the most common opening move in a scam.
Tell somebody where you are going and when you expect to be back.
When you meet
Meet in daylight, in a public place. A petrol station forecourt or a busy showroom car park works well.
Take somebody with you. A second pair of eyes is useful for the vehicle and useful for the meeting.
Drive it yourself, from cold, for at least fifteen minutes.
Paying
Never send money in advance — not a deposit, not a booking fee, not a transfer to hold the vehicle.
Never share a one-time code from your bank with anybody, for any reason.
Complete the transfer of ownership at the excise office. A signed open transfer letter is not a transfer.
If something is wrong
Report the ad. The report control is on every ad page and our moderation team reads every one.
Walk away from any seller who pressures you to decide immediately. Urgency is a technique, not a coincidence.
